Choose your Licence

Choosing your first licence is an important step, and at Haverfordwest Flight Centre we offer training towards both the UK Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and the National Private Pilot Licence (NPPL). Each route has different privileges, medical requirements and costs, so these pages explains the key differences and helps you decide which licence best matches the type of flying you want to do.

UK Private Pilots Licence (PPL)

The PPL allows you to fly privately or for pleasure in the UK and europe in a single piston engine aircraft. With the ability to add additional ratings and licences such as an Instrument and Multi Engine Rating.

National Pilots licence (NPPL)

With reduced flying hours requirements and a less stringent medical, the NPPL is quickly becoming the choice of licence for students looking to gain a pilots licence as a hobby.

The licence is limited to flying in the UK only.
